Revealing
His show name had come to him from a creative poet who had visited the small ranch on Rabbit Drive. The man had said that the horse looked like a twilight scene...the black was the shadow of the set sun and the new night. The blue was the highlight given and provided by the round moon just above the land, leaving small droplets of illuminated space. And because of his loving attitude and ability to out do any other equine in the speed category...usually the barrels. He was a dream horse, thus was named and titled "Twilight Dreams". But he is not spotted...rather splattered. His coat is blue roan, stunning and hardly found. And unlike most blue's, his coat as no long streaks that resemble scars. It is an even pattern, with black stocking wrapped around each limb to the knee cap.He has a wide blaze running down the plate of his nose, curving to the right nostril. This large blaze has helped people notice his wide, sparkling eyes which are full of hope, loyalty and trust for the future.
What goes on in that head
He is not a stupid horse. And he is not overly smart, either. It may sound bad, saying a horse is "not overly smart". But it is actually an upside. He has never gotten to the point where he has discovered he CAN rule you, as in he CAN not get ridden. And he has not figured out...and has not tried to...that he can hurt you. Of course, he actually might be really smart...enough to know that he could do that, but has the mind power to have thought it through and to deny that it was a good idea, unlike horses who are supposedly "smart". But though he is five...to most that is past the real learning age...he is still very well capable to learn. But his gift, his true calling is that of being a steed for the soul. Carrying you off into the depths of the night of the speed of Murcury...the Greek god of speed.
Discipline/Training
So what is it that makes the horse such value to those who own him? It cannot rely upon his mind and intellect alone. And it cannot be his lovely coat and flashy looks that can drive any rich man with the chestnut horse insane. No, it is what he is good at. Don't get me wrong, a lot of horses of all breeds are experts at the speed shows. And many have been renowned for their great endurance and skill at it. But though this stud has yet to be in enough shows and earn enough titles to be able to have people chanting in the stands, he is a diamond in the rough. His "expertise" is revolved around these outings at the speed shows. And barrels, plug and poles has been his main points. He had been introduced to penning and roping...but that had been before the incident at the ranch.
Background/History
Like so many other places, the owner had gone broke, and before you knew it, all the horses were up for sale. And since the town had no auction ring, the oner, Mr. Kent, had said to sell the horses at the surrounding auctions.
He had wanted Rocky to go to a good home...to a place orientated to horses, who's whole living was to care for the lovely animals who had been man's TRUE best friend for hundreds of years. He had come across this town in a magazine article for "Places that Have nothing to do with people, but everything with horses". It turns out that the "Town with a Silver Lining" was one of the top...and so close, too. He had wanted to sell as many of his remaining horses as he could...including Rocky. He was one of the big hits in town...but would he actually sell? Like so many other horses, there has always been the few who have been passed, who were looked over, then denied because of maybe their mood that day, or the time or temperature. But Kent had been sure that he would...he had gotten a few offers before from people that he did not even know. But had turned them down because it was before the incident and because Rocky had been so close to him.
He hauled Rocky alone in his two horse. He was planning to sell that, too to a friend on Rabbit Drive. Unlike him, they had their horse business booming with their Shetland ponies...now a baby boomer this year. Kent had been good with his hands, and after he'd sell "Big Blue", he'd start with the harness crafting for the farm, and help train the little ones for anything they had been destined to do.
Alec bought Rocky. He is now working with him...just so ya know.
