The trailer rocked...not because of the mare's discomfort, but because of that and the simple fact it was quite entertaining to her. Inside thetruck cab sat her stableboy, Joel, his own lips pursed from his still throbbing hand and the burden in the back. He was ignoring the rocking now...there was no use to try to stop her from doing it. If the mare wanted to do it, by darn, she'll go the lengths to do it. She was overly competetive, which would make her quite the competitor. She was also very lovely, making her the image of attraction. If ever anybody could actually get inside her head and make her showable, which Joel highly doubted, that'd actually be a good name. But you'd almost have to add "Poison" or "Toxic" or "Illusion" in there as well.
The truck pulled up the six horse trailer into the gravel drive. It wasn't the prettiest auction he'd ever seen...of course the only auctions he had ever gone to were for the most expensive of horses. His boss had the money of a mad man...and put all of it towards his horses. That was what was so impressive to Joel. How could anyone have so much and not spend it on themselves? Sure the boss had a huge abode, nice vehicles, and the kids had the best clothes...but more than 80% went just to the horses, like new tack and him...for caring for the tack and horses. Each horse had their own stableboy...though some tended to share, or a stableboy could take on two or three horses. It wasn't uncommon, but it could get hard. The boss had to have each stall clean three times daily, the horses fed six times, then if you finished you chorse early, and the horse was in pasture, you had to sit out on the barn porch and watch them eat...making sure none got into a big fit.
Of course the name Allure pops into the heads of most people when they think of throwing fits. But no way...the queen very rarely threw any more than a snort or a nip in the pasture. God forbid she use that anger where she could heighten her heiarchy in the herd. No, she has to save that anger for the humans who would rather sit in a lion's den then in her path. She acted like everybody's mother...the younger ones would follow her around, the elders would take special care of her. It was some kind of trance, the workers would joke, that she'd put on the others. Spellbinding, haunting enchantress. That was what she was...or is, if you mind.
He pulled up to the first building, most likely the main one. He didn't know much about this town, except that his boss said to take her to the nearest auction outside of town. Too many people inside their town knew Allure...and getting themselves in her path and wrath would surely bring a bad name to his ranch. Business would get worse, and he wouldn't get out of the financial bind he was in as fast as he had thought. So he solved that little problem by sending him to the closest town who housed an auction ring. To Joel, she was a monster, but after having cared for her for two years, he got kind of used to her, finding a bit of entertainment from her high strung personality. It seemed impossible to have her grow on you, but her little challenges she'd put Joel through could actually help release your anger. Boy, she loved it when you gave a little back. It was a stress reliever from school work, seeing as how he had gotten so much lately. His teachers really despised him, could care less if he did good or bad on his tests and finals. So at the end of each day, or during lunch (he had to skip for the last two years) he went out to the ranch, just a 5 minute drive since the highschool was in the country. He'd go out there to clean the stalls and visit his mare, getting into a tussle with her. He could relieve his anger on her...she liked it when he did. SHe just seemed to settle more when you'd give her your own attitude, she hated it when people stayed calm around her...she just opened up wider and gave you even more until you'd break apart.
She was funny like that. Joel had to laugh at the way she'd pick a fight and end it like it was all on her terms. But right now, he just wanted to get her unloaded from the trailer easy as pie and into that stall. He was on spring break...well the last few days of it...so he had had no stress or anger from school. And at home, there was nothing to worry about. His parents usually were at work, and when they were home, they slept. So he was usually on his own. And when that happened, he'd drive out to work to visit the horses, and of course do his chores for the day. But now, after selling the horse, he'd find himself back at school, probably beating some helpless kid to the ground in the wrath of his anger. So as he shut the engine off of the truck, he unbuckled himself (he had done this in fear the monster in the back would cause some kind of accidedent), then hopped out to release the beast.
As soon as the latch was undone, the vixen snorted and neighed ready to get out. Though she was good in her old stall, this stall was smaller and it moved and stopped abruptly. Plus the fact that her old stall was the size of two normal box stalls. She had room to run in circles or lay down in any odd and weird position her mind could possibly create. He untied the knot on the trailer ring to let her out, taking a few big breaths to ready himself for the fight. He had a feeling the mare was not going to like her stay here...it didn't have her mineral water, nor the little treats she got daily at almost any hour she wanted.
Welcome to normal horse life, Allure.
He smirked at the mare, and she seemed to roll her eyes at his little smug face. He smiled, ready for the fight she'd serve to him as soon as she'd be taken out of the trailer...if she did at all. He opened the side slot, letting her lead him out. She backed off quicker than most horses could think about doing, he was still recuperating form the run off of the trailer. Oh boy, the buyer was up for a challenge with her! She knew right where to go. Head pulled down into her chest, she pulled right for the barn, him holding onto the lead like there was a purpose. She reached an empty stall...in the draft horse area. Joel laughed at this. It was a huge box stall, and she had seen the stalls she was supposed to go in. She decided that this was the closest to her old one, so that was that.
Joel didn't have any desire to try to put her in a smaller stall while making a scene and ruining his chances of an upgrade, so he let her make her home inside the corridor of the stall. He untied the lead and let her loose, setting the sign up for sale and his chair next to the stall, waiting for the first bidder...
